About

About Facial Paralysis

Facial paralysis is a condition which involves malfunctioning of the Facial nerve. It leads to sudden paralysis or weakness in the facial muscle. It is correlated with Ardita in Ayurveda.

Statistics of Facial Paralysis

– Although it can affect anyone of any gender or age, its prevalence seems to be highest in people between the ages of 15 and 45
– 15 to 30 cases of Bell’s palsy occur annually per 100,000 people worldwide.

Risk Factors of Facial Paralysis

– Viral infections such as herpes simplex, epstein barr, adenovirus, rubella etc.
– Inflammatory disorders like Sarcoidosis affecting multiple organs.
– An uncontrolled high blood sugar
– An uncontrolled high blood pressure
– Being infected with Lyme disease.

Symptoms of Facial Paralysis

– Sudden weakness on one side of the face.
– Drooping of the face to one side.
– Issues with facial expressions like raising eyebrows, smiling etc.
– A loss of taste due to nerve damage
– Involuntary dribbling of saliva
– Increased sensitivity to sound on the affected side

Ayurvedic Causative Fact

- Constant yawning & excessive laughing
- Speaking too loudly
- Attempting to chew hard substances
- Trauma to veins, arteries, and nerves of the face
- Suppressing natural urges to cry, yawn, sneeze, etc.
- Intake of incompatible meal combinations
- Exposure to chilly winds
- Staying up late at night

Ayurvedic Pathogenesis

According to ayurveda, vata vitiation is the major cause of ardita. The aggravated vata affects the relevant side of the face by occluding the corresponding arteries, veins and nerves. The functioning of the facial nerve in that area gets affected causing the face to turn towards one side resulting in ardita.

FAQs

+ Q1. What are the objectives of treatment for facial palsy?
- Ans. The primary goal is to get the facial muscles working again. The following two tasks are crucial, especially:
-returning to full eye closure
-Bringing back the smile
+ Q2. My face has been paralyzed for a very long time. Still eligible for treatment, am I?
- Ans. Yes. The sort of facial paralysis you have and how long it has been affecting you will determine your treatment options. You still might be able to have better symmetry and function in your face.
+ Q3. What is synkinesis?
- Ans. When you try to move a separate part of your face, an unintentional twitching or movement known as synkinesis takes place.
+ Q4. How early can I start seeing results?
- Ans. You can start seeing results within 20-25 days of taking our treatment and medicines. Also, make sure to follow the proper diet advised by our doctors.
+ Q5. What should I do if I won't recover fully?
- Ans. For your facial paralysis, there are still several therapeutic options available. We can tailor treatment to your unique needs and preferences, even if you have partial paralysis or a limited degree of recovery.
+ Q6. What eye care is required when experiencing paralysis or weakening of the facial nerves?
- Ans. Your capacity to close your eyelids may be impacted by any variety of facial nerve dysfunction. This could result in irreparable harm if the exposed eye isn't shielded. When sleeping and blinking, the eyelids must completely close. In severe cases, severe drying of the eye can result in reduced vision, an infection, scarring, loss of sight, and even loss of the eye. When an eye cannot close, wearing eye protection is crucial.
+ Q7. Can a facial nerve that has been damaged be healed?
- Ans. Yes, at Dr. Dassan's Ayurveda, our primary goals are to reduce inflammation and damage to the facial nerves. The vata dosha is balanced as well, which decreases the pain. Accordingly, a balancing diet and therapies for vata are also suggested. To revitalise the neurons and enhance neurological signalling, medhya herbs are used. Ayurvedic facial muscle-strengthening medications are administered to help patients connect with others more readily by enhancing face mobility, reducing facial sagging, and improving facial expressions.
